This is a little bit different from me. Some of you, if you've been with me since the beginning - I'm talking 2012 - you might remember the old version of this short story.

What you need to know:

It's 20k words, so roughly the same length as The Tea House and Hollow House.

It was my first book baby, sort of a prototype book, so I've wanted to re-cover it forever.

It is NOT MM romance. MC Adam is pan, and you can absolutely ship him with certain characters, but romance is not part of the plot, other than a past reference.

And lastly, the incredible illustration for the cover was done by Adam Sward, a local artist who did a majority of my tattoos, including the one of my Incubus Saga character Sasha.

It will be on #KindleUnlimited and in pocket paperback. Even though this isn't my norm, I hope you'll give it a chance. I waited so long to finally re-release this because I kept thinking I'd add onto it, but I think this is it.

You'll notice that several of my older titles are currently unavailable. The Second Edition of Coming Up for Air, which released 09.25.24, was actually a pretty big deal, because it marked the beginning of my fully self-published, all rights are mine again, journey.

There was a time when getting something published through a publisher was the dream. That meant success, and it is a fascinating turn that the opposite is true these days. It is also so gratifying that you amazing readers helped me get this far, so that I am a full-time author, with the ability to format and design my own book interiors and covers, keeping all my revenue for myself.

Several others were re-released in 2024, and many more will be re-released and re-covered throughout 2025 and 2026. Some books are going to be re-covered despite still being available with their original covers right now, so get those while you can. A few books that are unavailable still have copies on my Etsy Store if you want to grab the last of them.

2024 Recap

What a year! I released 5 brand-new titles in 2024, 1 audiobook, 5 re-covers of older books, and I attended 9 events around the Midwest. I was part of 3 multi-author collaborations, 1 of which I ran.

By running the Tales from the Tarot collab, I wrangled a group of 22 authors, created a full 78-card tarot deck, which led to $2000 in donations to the SAGE charity. I worked with Sanctum Flames to create two series-inspired candles, and I wrote one of the books I am most proud of, CLERIC OF DESIRE, featuring a demi-gender awakening: https://mybook.to/clericofdesire

This has also been a year of loss as well as wins. My cat Helga, our baby of 16 years, crossed the Rainbow Bridge last spring, and we still miss her. But our new boys, Dante and Virgil, sure have been helping bring joy back into the house. They distract me while I'm working quite often, but I can't imagine a day without them. Or without the support of my husband.

In other wins, I got to meet two of my favorite celebrities, Brandon Rogers and Grant Gustin. Besides conventions across the Twin Cities and in Iowa, Wisconsin, and North Dakota, I also traveled to Alaska and Las Vegas for vacations. And hey, I surpassed 400 hours in Baldur's Gate III (I don't think that counts my Early Access either, oops) and over 100 so far in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

I've been busy.

But honestly, the most rewarding of all this year was the readers I heard from and got to meet. When someone travels to see YOU, sends someone to buy YOUR books because they can't make it, gushes about YOUR work, recognizes YOU in any way, honestly, it's just never something you get used to, and I feel so honored every time. THANK YOU.
